Ty Seddon is a data scientist and software architect specializing in artificial intelligence. Over the past 20 years, Ty have been the technical lead on over 100 successful large-scale projects. He has been an owner or executive in 10 start-up companies, and has implemented 5 patents. He also worked with large organizations, leading multi-million dollar engagements with organizations such as Bureau of Labor Statistics, State of North Carolina, Johnson Controls, and Rotary International.
Ty is driven by the belief that technology can and should empower people. Technology should empower them to work efficiently and make better decisions. The collective knowledge of an organization, properly utilitized, is an organization's greatest asset.
Ty founded CogniVista in 2006 in order to pursue his passion of working with organizations in growing and leveraging their knowledge assets.
From 2010 to 2014, Ty was a founding partner at reUrgency LLC, a custom software development firm which developed enterprise solutions for Fortune 100 companies and several start-ups. reUrgency specialized in Rich Internet Application (RIA) development and mobile development on Android phones, Android tablets, iPhones, and iPads. Ty was architect of their "Rich Framework" that allowed them to build 80% of an application in 2 weeks.
From 2007 to 2010, Ty was a partner and Chief Technology Office of NavDog, LLC, which developed the "world's first intelligent map" search. Ty developed the intelligent search algorithms that allowed a user to "explore" a map instead instead of simply typing keywords. The paradigm shift enabled NavDog's search engine to learn quickly from the user's interactions. In just a few minutes, the system could identify the user's intent and preferences.
In 2006, Ty joined Law Enforcement Services, Inc. as Vice President of Operations, where he lead development of an expert system used to psychologically profile applicants to law enforcement. He also prepared the organization for valuation and acquisition.
From 1999 through 2005, Ty was a partner of Wildon Software Corporation, a software consulting and contracting company based in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina. Ty was the Director of Internet Development and worked with clients such as Law Enforcement Services, Employment Security Commission of North Carolina, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Howard Perry & Walston Realtors.
Before joining Wildon Software, Ty founded and led the research and development department for MP Interactive Corporationm, a company specializing in the design and implementation of Internet-based communication and collaboration tools for large scale construction projects. As the Senior Software Architect/Programming Services Manager, his focus was the research and development of project communication and collaboration tools for the Internet.
Prior to that, he was Chief Software Engineer for Teacher Support Software, a company dedicated to developing cross-platform multimedia teaching tools. He developed a networked educational game for elementary and middle school computer labs. He also designed a suite of inter-operable applications to help educators implement their teaching goals, from lesson planning through testing.
Ty received his undergraduate education through the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. While there, he participated in the cooperative education program with IBM's National Support Center as a Marketing Support Representative.
